CALL FOR ENTRIES:
Mantel is an online gallery with the simple focus of showing objects that people want to live with.  Our mission is to present carefully selected groupings of goods from a wide variety of sources.
Whether high or low, old or new, digital or analog, Mantel is seeking objects that explore the complex and contradictory nature of formal beauty.  Handmade works of art in any media, industrially designed products, vintage clothing and accessories, found objects, furniture, tools or anything other object that has “that special something” will be reviewed for exhibition.
What sets Mantel apart from large online marketplaces like Etsy is a curatorial view.  Online exhibitions will change frequently and will focus on approximately 12-15 objects at a time.  No item is too unusual to be reviewed.  If you think it is interesting, share it with us.
Mantel’s inaugural  exhibition is tentatively scheduled for November 15, 2011.  Entries will be reviewed on a “first-come first-served” basis, so send images and information about your work as soon as possible to objectsworthcoveting@gmail.com
Contributing artists or collectors will receive 50% of the selling price of the item.  Mantel is currently looking for items with a retail price of approximately $25-$100. The gallery will assume full responsibility for the packing and shipping of products to the customer and professional documentation of the item for use on our website.  If your work is selected for exhibition, you will be responsible for providing Mantel with information about the item, a brief bio, and pay for shipping of the item to our location in Philadelphia, PA.  Local artists and collectors can drop off their items to avoid this cost.
